The best way to clean vinyl cladding is to use a soft cloth or a brush with soft bristles. Soft-bristle brushes work well for grooves. In washing your vinyl cladding, start from the bottom going up. Afterwards, rinse the cladding thoroughly and let it dry.

Also, the washer should be kept at eye level at all times. Aiming the power washer upwards will only drive the water to the back of the cladding. Also, be aware of the recommendations of the manufacturer. Some vinyl claddings are not recommended to be cleaned using power washers.

If you see signs of moulds and mildew on the cladding, you can use products specifically designed to remove these or you can use a home-made mixture using detergent soap, water and bleach.

If your home is undergoing a renovation, make sure that your vinyl cladding is covered properly to prevent staining from the materials being used. Be careful when you use pesticides near the cladding. Some types of insecticides and herbicides can discolour vinyl cladding.

As such, if you are having a barbecue outdoors, be sure that you keep a good distance from the cladding in order to prevent damage to it. Make sure that you do not keep equipment that emit a high amount of heat near the vinyl cladding.

Vinyl cladding can withstand sunlight. However, they can be deformed when the sunlight is filtered through concave energy-efficient windows. This can increase the temperature of the sunlight that reaches the cladding. Avoid this by blocking the sunlight through the use of trees and other landscaping elements. You can also use covers for your windows. Your goal is to place a barrier between the cladding and intense sunlight.

Thinking of repainting your vinyl cladding? Be sure to consult the manufacturer first before proceeding. You might void the warranty for your cladding if you do not ask the manufacturer beforehand.
